Seminar for Teachers

Seminar on film education with an emphasis on animation film, for primary and secondary school teachers

Tuesday, 12 December, 11 am, Famul Stuart School of Applied Arts, Bežigrajski dvor, Dunajska 56, Ljubljana

Two representatives of the Austrian Ministry of Education, Science and Culture, Karl Brousek, PhD, and Renate Holubek, and a representative of the international animation film association ASIFA, Thomas Renoldner, MA, will conduct the morning seminar including presentations, screenings and a short animation film workshop for primary and secondary school teachers.

Renate Holubek and Karl Brousek, PhD, will present their work with the Austrian Ministry of Education, Science and Culture, where their job is to support teachers and students who want to carry out projects connected to the media. They support them in designing, developing, producing and presenting works from different media areas. Every year the Ministry organizes a competition for the best and most innovative educational media project across European schools, the winners receive the Media Literacy Award (http://www.mediamanual.at/en/mla.php). The project teaches students to express themselves through different media and at the same time become aware of their influence and effects.

The workshop on the basics of animation film will be run by Thomas Renoldner, a teacher of animation film at the Vienna Academy of Applied Arts and the Vienna Art School. In the last 15 years he has realized numerous projects connected to animation film and the youth. His wish is to familiarize teachers with the technical aspects of animation film and the educational value that it has for youngsters.
