The Elephant after the Animateka Festival

The Elephant: Educational Animated Film Programme is selection of the short animated films from The Elephant: Children’s and Youth Programme at the Animateka Film Festival 2009, and thus establishing an outstanding selection of the short animated films, presented throughout Slovenia. Film screenings are accompanied by the guided discussions, which are giving young people a deeper insight into the world of animated images.

Adapted film programme and guided discussions with the experienced mentors provide even the youngest children with the active observation of cartoon characters. The films we have selected speak of unusual friendships, about the relation to oneself and relationships with others; they open the magical worlds and, through laughter, stimulate the children into thinking about the world that surrounds them.

Critical thinking and distanced approach to the media is the necessity for the modern human. Therefore, these selected animated films offer the children the variety of film genres and a wide range of different themes for further discussions.
